CANTERBURY TOWN BUILDING NEEDS COMMITTEE
2003 MISSION STATEMENT

(This committee's Mission Statement was amended in June of 2003 to reflect the new focus of its work as the result of the passing of a proposal to build a new library and municipal building at the 2003 Annual Town Meeting in March of 2003)

Whereas the Canterbury Building Needs Committee was authorized and appointed at the 2001 Town Meeting to review the needs of the community at present and in the foreseeable future and assess the ability of Town properties to address those needs; and

Whereas the CBNC presented a comprehensive building plan of action at the 2003 Town Meeting which was approved by a two thirds majority of the voters present;

Now, therefore, it shall be the mission of the CBNC to implement the approved plan by meeting with architects, contractors and affected town departments, reviewing and recommending contracts to the Town Selectmen, monitoring and overseeing construction and renovations, and doing all that may be required to complete the project in a timely and cost efficient manner.

In the furtherance of this mission, it shall be the practice of the CBNC to make frequent reports to the Town, to inform the public through maintenance of a web site displaying minutes of meetings and showing work in progress, and the holding of informational meetings as deemed appropriate.

CANTERBURY TOWN BUILDING NEEDS COMMITTEE
2001 MISSION STATEMENT


In recognition of the historic, practical and aesthetic benefits derived from Town owned properties, it is the mission of the Canterbury Town Building Needs Committee to review existing Town buildings as currently utilized and assess their needs regarding repairs or renovations.

It shall also be a part of our mission to meet with Town officers, department heads, and members of the Canterbury community to discuss the needs of the community at present and in the foreseeable future, the ability of existing Town properties to address those needs, and whether expansion or replacement of buildings is deemed advisable.

A full reporting of our findings and recommendations will be made to the Canterbury Selectmen by October 2001.
